Jamescape are proud to release our 2023 EDI report on Disability, Mental Health and Wellbeing within the company. Annual reporting is a key requirement of the Disability Confident Leader guidance, as it provides organisations with meaningful insights into their staff’s mental and physical health, along with the percentage of their workforce who identify as disabled. Making this public ensures accountability, confidence for job applicants and opportunities for internal and external scrutiny.
Organisations are also required to provide a narrative of how they aim to recruit and retain disabled staff. This is not only a useful piece of self-reflection, but it will serve as a yearly commitment to continue improving our EDI practices to be the best they can be. For us, the reporting results were very positive as we found that staff were highly satisfied with their job at Jamescape and that they felt safe working here. Notably, 50% of respondents identified as disabled, which we’re very proud of given we have such a small team. Maintaining, and perhaps increasing, these positive results as we grow as a company will be a key focus for us and will hopefully be reflected in our 2024 reporting results and beyond.
James Barber, Chief Executive, said, “I am incredibly proud, but not surprised, of the results from this survey. Everyone at Jamescape is committed to ensuring that we do everything in our power to ensure Equality, Diversity and Inclusion throughout the organisation, and this evidence makes that incredibly clear. Huge credit is due to Zack Walker for leading our incredibly successful Project EDI that has been a true catalyst in getting us to where we are now.”
Paul Amann, Principal Officer Employment and Skills at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, said, “At Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA), we are strong advocates for the Disability Confident scheme, a national program that encourages employers to be inclusive employers for disabled people. We know it’s not perfect, but it is a brilliant indicator that it is probably worthwhile as a disabled person, to apply for a job with an employer that uses the scheme. By encouraging employers to embrace inclusivity, they empower residents with disabilities to participate in the workforce and contribute to the City Region's economic growth.”
