On Thursday 25/04/2024, Zack Walker (Chief Operating Officer & EDI Project Officer) attended the University of Liverpool’s inaugural Equality+ Awards, a celebration of the students and graduates who have made a significant impact in promoting the values of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in the university community. Jamescape won the award for Exceptional Entrepreneur thanks to our success in achieving Disability Confident Leader accreditation and our commitment to ensuring good EDI practices throughout our operations. Zack gave a passionate acceptance speech highlighting the scheme, which also managed to squeeze a few laughs from the audience! We would once again like to thank the judging panel for the award and extend our warm wishes to all of the other winners and nominees.
The Equality+ judging panel commented, “This company’s dedication to inclusivity and accessibility within the software development industry is commendable. Their efforts in promoting EDI through their Project EDI and ensuring a diverse and inclusive working environment highlight their commitment to upholding best practices and fostering innovation.”
Independently, Zack and James Barber (Chief Executive) were nominated and shortlisted for the Disability Champion award, for their respective efforts in enhancing the disabled student voice throughout various roles in the University. We’d like to congratulate our friends in the Disability Coaches team for winning the award! Zack also received a Highly Commended award for the Greatest Contribution to EDI award.
James commented, “It is incredibly rewarding to see our hard work recognised like this and I am delighted that Zack was there to accept this award on our behalf, a testament to the hard work he has done within in the organisation about all matters EDI. Thank you to the University of Liverpool for the recognition.”
The Equality+ Awards was a fantastic night full of talented people who have made meaningful strides in EDI-related endeavours. It is great that these awards exist to highlight these pieces of important work, and we’re excited to see the Equality+ Awards continue for many years to come.
