In November 2022, James Barber, Chief Executive, and Zack Walker, Executive Team Manager, were invited to attend the LCR Founders Showcase event in the Isla Gladstone Conservatory in Anfield, Liverpool.
LCR Founders is an ERDF funded scheme run collaboratively by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, that aims to foster and celebrate the growing entrepreneur community in the Liverpool City Region. The showcase event was a chance to catch-up with old friends and network with new friends alike.
During the event, five entrepreneurs were invited to deliver short, three-minute business pitches. These entrepreneurs included our own James Baber, who delivered a touching and enthusiastic pitch about Jamescape’s long-term software project that aims to tackle homelessness, Project Harker.
We’re very proud that James won the grand prize for his pitch, as decided by an audience vote.
Speaking about the award, James said, “It is a great honour to have been voted the winner, against some tough competition from some innovative businesses having a great impact across the Liverpool City Region. Thank you to the LCR Founders team for their support and the invitation to pitch at this event."
Sue Trish, Project Manger (LCR Founders) at Liverpool John Moores University said, "We were really impressed by the standard of the pitches from our students at the recent LCR Founders Innovation Showcase Event. Students from across the city spoke passionately about their new start up ventures and gave us a great insight into their ideas and future plans. James delivered an incredible pitch and his vision was both creative and innovative. The team and I are excited to see Jamescape scale up and develop their ideas – and look forward to seeing what comes next! Well done James!"
Iwan Williams, Director of Careers and Employability at the University of Liverpool said "We love to see our students succeed and make their mark on the world. James deserves this award and he is a superb example of what can be achieved when you complement creativity and an entrepreneurial mind-set with drive, persistence and self-belief. The Careers and Employability team at the University is committed to helping students start small but dream big, and we are all so proud of his accomplishments. Winning this award is yet another memorable mark in his journey and we know there is much more to come!”
A huge thank you to the LCR Founders team for hosting the evening and congratulations to James!
