Our preferred suppliers
Real Living Wage
The Real Living Wage (RLW) is the only pay rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 460,000 people and put £3 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
The RLW commitment is a commitment to deliver a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work to all of your team. You can become an accredited Living Wage employer on the Living Wage Foundation website.
Living Hours
Also set by the Living Wage Foundation, Living Hours provides security of working hours for part-time and contracted staff, particularly those on casual zero-hour contracts. The benchmark calls on employers to provide the right to request a fixed-hour contract, a minimum of 16 hours per week (unless otherwise requested) and advanced shift notice with guaranteed payments for shifts cancelled on short notice.
The Living Hours commitment helps grow staff retainment and satisfaction, and makes your organisation stand-out as an exemplar employer for part-time and contracted staff. You can find out more and reach out to their team on the Living Wage Foundation website.
Disability Confident
Disability Confident is a UK Government framework that supports organisations to become more inclusive to disabled people throughout their operations. As a Disability Confident Leader, we champion this scheme in our network.
Jamescape can support your organisation with your Disability Confident journey through our EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) consulting service. Please drop us a line if this is something you would be interested in!
Liverpool City Region Fair Employment Charter
In an effort to promote the principle of ‘fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work’, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority introduced a Fair Employment Charter to celebrate employers with good employment practice. The charter measures four key values: healthy, fair, inclusive, just.
For organisations outside of Liverpool, your local authority may have an equivalent scheme, such as Greater Manchester’s Good Employment Charter.
Additional suggestions for our suppliers
Particularly for those based in Liverpool, we recommend that our suppliers engage with the following schemes.
Liverpool City Region Digital Inclusion Network
To help tackle the digital divide, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has a Digital Inclusion Network of businesses who are committed to breaking down barriers for digitally excluded people. Local businesses can support the Digital Inclusion Network sharing best practice and donating old tech to be re-gifted.
Liverpool Bambis
Liverpool Bambis are a team of peer supporters who offer breastfeeding support and information to pregnant women, breastfeeding mums. and their families. Businesses can sign up to become Breastfeeding Friendly, so that people will know where they are safe and welcome to breastfeed (either in a public area of the building or in a designated private area).
Liverpool City Region Give an Hour
The Liverpool City Region Careers Hub has a scheme that invites professionals to ‘Give an Hour’ by volunteering at a local school. This could involve giving an enterprise talk, carrying out mock interviews, or sitting on a pitch panel. Sharing your insight via the Give an Hour scheme supports young people’s understand of the world of work and inspires them to achieve great things.
