Jamescape has resolved outages, services should be recovering. Click for more info

Update: 2026-08-20 14:56 BST

Last night, at approximately 23:30 BST, we discovered that a further issue had taken place with our upstream provider, where they stopped all of our services and did not notify us. The provider has not been cooperative in the process and Jamescape has undertaken a complex business continuity and recovery process to bring all services back online. We believe that all services have been restored, but they may take some time to fully recover.

We will provide a more in-depth update shortly, but our priority remains restoring all services.

Update: 2026-08-19 12:17 BST

What happened?

Following an unannounced configuration change from an upstream provider, Virtual Private Servers used by Jamescape to host websites and, crucially, DNS were stopped overnight. This meant that from approximately 01:40 BST to 11:35 BST on Wednesday 19/08/2026, customer websites and emails were unavailable. We do not expect a loss in any email due to this outage.

Unfortunately, due to the severity of this issue, Jamescape's status and monitoring services were also affected. Upon learning of the issue (approximately 09:20 BST), Jamescape immediately began rectification work, posted across our social media channels and updated our website to announce the issue to customers when it came back online.

As email servers were down, Jamescape could not use emails to inform customers.

Jamescape's immediate priority was to restore internal email services so that the accounts controlling the Virtual Private Servers and begin the next stages of service restoration. This was achieved by approximately 09:50 BST, but the upstream provider took some time to rectify the configuration changes. This was completed by 11:35 BST, and Jamescape's automatic recovery processes began immediately. Jamescape staff have now checked all services and believe that everything is operating normally. If you experience any issues, please contact hello@jamescape.net.

What are we doing to prevent this happening again?

Jamescape are expediting planned work to build a new customer portal to collect backup contact information for customers, so that in the event of downtime, customers can still be reached.

Jamescape has moved jamescape.net services on to an external DNS provider, and will migrate all customer DNS to this provider as well. This work was already planned and being done alongisde any other work, but will be expedited.

We are sorry, and are grateful for your support.
